Next Steps "Un Hommage aux Femmes" - Helena 2024-2025
The black-and-white images featuring HELENA that fill this volume were taken in 2024 in a studio in Aarau and in 2025 in an apartment in Döttingen. The natural light streaming through the windows was the only source of illumination. None of the photographs were retouched afterwards to remove imperfections or create perfection.
With "Next Steps," I want to create photographs that appear less staged and instead seem more honest and intimate. The all-too-familiar pin-up and Playboy poses that we have seen so many times before should be deliberately avoided. Instead, the images should convey the feeling of accidentally witnessing a private, almost everyday moment. The fact that these scenes are actually carefully planned should, in the best case, remain hidden. The focus is on the women – their personality, their presence, their character – in an erotic setting.
